Hello, pretty ladies! Time for cosmetics review! This time I am going to be reviewing another well-known Malaysian cosmetics brand! It’s non other than Velvet Vanity Cosmetics. There have been so much of hype about this brand and I was so eager to give it a try and yay, I finally got my hands on two shades of their well-known liquid matte lipsticks, Legit and Take Me Out. Each of their liquid matte lipstick costs RM49.00 each and they are also available in bundles.
Velvet Vanity Cosmetics was founded by an entrepreneur, Adlina Nadirah and it is one of the first Malaysia brands to pride themselves as cruelty free and vegan! Their products are also safe to use as they are approved by Ministry of Health, Malaysia. Since then, Velvet Vanity has been keeping their game up and still going strong in the Malaysian beauty market. They recently came up with a new collection called ‘The Golden Hour’ consisting of four new shades that compliments all skin tones. Most importantly, they were recently approved by Tati, The Glam Life Guru herself! Check out their website at www.shopvelvetvanity.com

Packaging: The packaging was cute. The container is clear thus you can see the contents inside. The lid is made of plastic and the colour was turquoise which is the signature colour of Velvet Vanity’s products. Like all the liquid lipstick, it has this slightly tilted applicator wand that does the job.
Shades: I was pretty excited to try Velvet Vanity’s lipsticks for the first time and I can say that the excitement didn’t last long. I first tried Take Me Out. Although the shade was described as perfect red lipstick, however, when I applied it became slightly orangey and after a while became too bright and striking. If you have dark skin like me, it wouldn’t really suit you. I was indeed disappointed. I liked the shade Legit. It’s a very nude shade of purple. So, if you are not a fan of nude lipstick, then don’t get this shade. You can absolutely rock this shade with a pretty lip liner and if you are looking forward to a nude makeup. So, if you have a dark skin and looking forward to try out Velvet Vanity liquid lipsticks, you should avoid Take Me Out.
Consistency: I tested both this shades for a week before writing this review. I wore both this lipsticks alternately to college. What I realized is that the consistency of both the formula of Legit and Take Me Out is not the same. The formula of Legit very thin, easy to apply and was lightweight on my lips. However, Take Me Out disappointed me as the consistency was very thick, felt heavy and flaky on my lips and it was difficult to apply evenly on my lips as it was just so thick. I didn’t like the consistency of Take Me Out. It dried my lips out so badly. So, I’m guessing the consistency is not the same.
Smell: It smells like chocolate milk. I love it!
Longevity: It lasted well the whole day. I was very careful about not getting any greasy food touch my lips thus, it lasted the whole day. But as mentioned in the packaging, greasy food is definitely a no,no. But reapplication wasn’t a problem except for Take Me Out because of its thick consistency, reaplication gets thick, messy and flaky. I had no problem whatsoever with Legit.
Removal: I like the fact that both Legit and Take Me Out can be easily removed with a even a slight rub using makeup remover.
VERDICT: I’ll never get Take Me Out again. It was a no for me in every angle. I liked the shade Legit. I hope Velvet Vanity will improve the formula of Take Me Out. I’m excited to try out the other shades in my next purchase. Hopefully, the formula of other shades will be as good as Legit.
